After gracing the red carpet at the Royal Wedding as maid of honour for her sister, Kate, Pippa Middleton’s bridesmaid dress became an admired and iconic dress that many would love for their bridesmaids or as their own wedding gown. Well the new range of royal wedding inspired wedding dresses announced by department store Debenhams will enable many brides to do just that.
Thelma Levett, a 54 year old balloon modeller from Hinckley, Leicestershire, was inspired by Kate Middleton’s royal wedding dress to set to creating a masterpiece from balloons.
Mrs Levett, who has two daughters, has made many household items and even a car in the past, a pink Cadillac which was created as a gift for a friend’s birthday, out of balloons. This latest construction is not the first dress Thelma has created, having made a couple of dresses previously, and even another wedding dress, but this special dress had one of the most famous wedding dresses of modern times as it’s inspiration.

Each year, the palace opens its doors for the summer, and pride of place on display for tourists to appreciate is the Alexander McQueen wedding dress that Kate walked down the aisle wearing.

For the low price of £60, brides can walk down the aisle wearing an imitation white dress modelled on the dress worn by Kate Middleton, complete with satin sash and bow, lace detailing and sweetheart neckline. The budget wedding dress has short sleeves, however, rather than the full length lace sleeves on the Sarah Burton dress that adorned Kate on her big day.
