Moves by the Church of England to make planning a wedding in a Church seem to be paying off, as the number of weddings that took place in Anglican churches rose in 2010 for the first time in years. The increase of 4% is hoped to be the start of growing popularity for the Church as a wedding ceremony location once again.
With more wedding venues being granted licenses to complete civil ceremonies, and attending church on a regular basis being something that isn’t as popular with people now as in the past, couples had started to move away from the traditional white wedding. Relaxed rules put into place by the Church of England, however, could be responsible for more people visiting their local church to book in their wedding service.

Many people love the idea of a romantic fairytale wedding in Scotland, whether in a castle with the groom and groomsmen dressed in kilts or the fantasy of running away together to Gretna Green to get married. The Master’s House at St Katherine’s Hospital in Ledbury, an iconic building and the UK’s only hall-house dating from mediaeval times, is due to be given a new lease of life. Local residents had long campaigned for the building to be saved, and it has been decided that renovation works will conclude in January 2012 with the building being available for hire as a wedding venue.

A couple from Devon are planning to marry at the end of September starting with a wedding on the rocks at Ilfracombe. 24 year old Becky Watkinson will marry her groom, Samson Hutson who she met in Greece while on holiday on 23rd September.
The wedding ceremony will take place 1km out to sea on a rock during high tide, meaning wedding guests and the rector will have to get their feet wet.

Brian and June Morton, a couple coming from families with mining heritage who made their fortune establishing and then selling their own building contractor company, David Wilkinson Building Contractors, have transformed a dilapidated and forgotten Grade II listed hall into what will rival other wedding venues in the Northumberland area.
Middleton Hall located near to Belford was suffering a number of structural problems including dry and wet rot, water was leaking in through the roof, interior woodwork had been infested by woodworm and required treatment, and the expensive tasks of installing electrical wiring and a central heating system both needed to be undertaken. The total cost of the work has amounted to a restoration cost reaching over a million pounds.

Brides to be and grooms looking for a more unique and unusual venue for their wedding ceremony and reception in Tamworth will soon be able to book into Drayton Manor theme park for their special day after the amusement park has been granted a civil ceremony marriage licence.
On 15th August, the visitor attraction will be opening a hotel with 150 rooms to provide accommodation for theme park guests, and the granting of the wedding license coincides with this, as it will offer overnight accommodation for wedding guests after the evening reception if engaged couples decide to hold their entire wedding celebrations on site at Drayton Manor.
