Cost of Church of England Weddings sees 40% Increase

All Saints Church BakewellAfter the recent announcement that church weddings are increasing in popularity, brides and grooms planning to marry in a Church of England establishment may change their minds after a 40% increase in the cost of this part of the wedding was declared.

Previously, the cost of marrying at a Church of England church was £296. As of January 2013 however, wedding budgets will need to accommodate £415 to walk down the aisle and marry before the altar.

Best Hen and Stag Party Destination Named As Bournemouth

BournemouthResults of a survey conducted among men and women attending stag and hen parties have revealed that Bournemouth is the best location for a hen night or stag do in the UK if looking for a night out with friends to celebrate an upcoming wedding.

Other popular cities that many people choose for a stag or hen party destination are Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Brighton and Nottingham, but Bournemouth was awarded the crown after more than 2000 people chose it as their recommended location for celebrating with friends.

Figures Show White Weddings Increasing in Popularity

church weddingMoves by the Church of England to make planning a wedding in a Church seem to be paying off, as the number of weddings that took place in Anglican churches rose in 2010 for the first time in years. The increase of 4% is hoped to be the start of growing popularity for the Church as a wedding ceremony location once again.

With more wedding venues being granted licenses to complete civil ceremonies, and attending church on a regular basis being something that isn’t as popular with people now as in the past, couples had started to move away from the traditional white wedding. Relaxed rules put into place by the Church of England, however, could be responsible for more people visiting their local church to book in their wedding service.

After being made redundant 2 years ago from jobs in the hospitality industry and struggling to find alternative employment, Karen Wilkinson and Chris Sanders have come up with an alternative way to pay for their wedding.

Originally, the pair planned to marry two years ago but when Karen fell pregnant with their now 20 month old daughter Ellie, plans were put on hold.

Wedding Photographer Shortlisted For Wedding Newcomer Award

SLR cameraAn Oswestry based wedding photographer has been short listed to win a 2012 Wedding Industry Award as Best Newcomer. Phil Barrett started PB Artworks in 2010 after obtaining a first in Photography at Glyndwr University, where he decided to study the subject following redundancy from his role as an illustrator at a greeting card company.

After graduating, Phil found that there was a distinct lack of opportunities for photographers in his local area. His passion for photography led him to start his own business, however, and in May 2010, he completed his first proper set of wedding photographs for Lauren and Ben Wild. He has since photographed 30 weddings for happy couples.

Alternative Royal Wedding Cake Ingredients Revealed

rich tea biscuitsThe former master chocolatier at Thorntons, Barry Colenso, has been given permission to speak about the alternative wedding cake he created when commissioned by McVities. Since April, Barry has been unable to speak about the ingredients of the alternative cake that was on display during the Royal Wedding.

The cake was one of six wedding cakes that were designed, and required the efforts of a team working day and night for 29 days for it to be completed on time. In addition, not only one, but two versions of the cake had to be prepared in advance to ensure that the cake arrived in one piece at Buckingham Palace ready for the wedding of the decade.

Oldest Couple in UK Celebrate 75 Years of Marriage

Bo'ness ChurchNew Year’s Day was a double celebration for the UK’s oldest couple, as they also celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. 100 year old Robert Erskine and his wife Susan, 99, were joined by three younger generations of family in their celebrations on 1st January 2012.

The pair haven’t spent a day apart since Robert returned from serving in World War II, but even before they got married back in 1937, the couple had been engaged for 5 years. Mrs Erskine said her mother approved of the wedding because Robert was such a nice boy, and advised she was thrilled that she and Robert are Britain’s oldest couple.

Anne Hathaway‘The Devil Wears Prada’ and ‘One Day’ actress Anne Hathaway has been spotted with an engagement ring on her finger, and it was confirmed by her representative that she has accepted the marriage proposal from her boyfriend Adam Shulman.

Anne’s engagement ring was designed by Adam, who is a jewellery designer and actor, in conjunction with Kwiat Heritage Jewels. Kwiat pride themselves on creating special diamond engagement rings with excellent craftmanship, and with Shulman’s input into the design of her ring, Anne Hathaway must feel like a princess.
